Swiss international Valon Behrami has impressed since joining Lazio this season, but President Claudio Lotito has sparked a financial battle over his future.

The midfielder is half-owned by Genoa and initial negotiations this week put a ￡4m price-tag on the remaining 50 per cent of his contract.

“I put forward a request that was considered excessive,” explained Genoa patron Enrico Preziosi. “With that in mind, as of Monday I will feel free to negotiate Behrami’s future with any club that is interested.”
