[拉齐奥足球新闻]Rossi期待更好的未来
Lazio coach Delio Rossi hopes his side have saved their best for this weekend's game at struggling Parma after a below-par performance against minnows Cittadella in the Coppa Italia.

Rossi's team could only manage a draw against third division side Cittadella in Padua, a result which nevertheless saw them progress through to the quarter-finals after winning the first leg 2-0.

"It was a difficult game for us," admitted Rossi.

"Cittadella played better than us. We had hoped to qualify with the minimum effort but instead we have had to suffer.

"Many of my players lacked rhythm having had little playing time so far this season."

Lazio failed to show the same determination seen in last weekend's emphatic 4-1 league triumph against Ascoli.

The result left the Biancoceleste in eighth place - level on 27 points with city rivals Roma.

"Our main aim is to reach 42 points which would allow us to defend our Serie A status," added Rossi.

"Once we reach that point we can then focus on trying to achieve something bigger."

Parma were unlucky to bow out of the Coppa Italia having held Internazionale to a goalless draw at the San Siro, but the 1-0 defeat in the first leg was good enough for Inter to go through to the next round.

"We've played with so many young players and they have given a great performance," said Parma coach Mario Berretta.

"It's a pity that we weren't able to score."

His team's performance on Thursday has given Berretta plenty of confidence for the future.

"I think that if we show the same determination as we did against Inter in our next games we can avoid relegation."

The Gialloblu are in 18th position in the 20-team league following last weekend's 4-3 defeat against AC Milan, but are just two points behind Cagliari who sit on the edge of the relegation zone.

Parma will be confident of clinching three important points against the visitors, who have only won one game on the road this season.

The Ennio Tardini stadium has proved a lucky charm for Parma, who have not lost in front of their home fans since November, when they were beaten 2-1 by Udinese.

The hosts will be without midfielder Jorge Bolano who serves a one-match ban while striker Domenico Morfeo has fully recovered from injury and will return to the starting line-up.

The Romans will have to do without midfielder Manuel Belleri, who sustained a muscle injury in midweek, but are hopeful Paolo Di Canio will shake of a knee injury in time.
页:
