Niemi: Arsenal's Almunia good enough for England
Fulham goalkeeper Antti Niemi says Arsenal's Manuel Almunia is good enough to play for England.
Niemi said: "If Almunia chooses to try to play for England and, it is technically possible for him to do so, he would definitely be in the frame for the World Cup.
"I do like Almunia. He has shown that he has got a bit of everything. He is a big lad but he's really quick and I can't see any weaknesses in his game. He has been fantastic for Arsenal."
Based in Britain since 1997 when he joined Rangers from Danish side Kobenhavn, Niemi said: "I'm not sure what Almunia's situation is. Maybe he thinks he is going to live in London for the rest of his life. But me? I'm very patriotic. I'm very proud to be Finnish.
"I would never even consider having two passports. I love my country and that is the only country I want to play for."
