Sereni's contract talks still ongoing

Matteo Sereni has agreed to take a pay cut, but his agent has dubbed Lazio’s latest offer “a laughable figure.”

“For a player like Sereni, the figures proposed by the club are frankly laughable,” said Dario Canovi to Radio Spazio Aperto.

Sereni was at the centre of controversy during the summer, as it emerged he earned more than doubt the sum picked up by first choice shot-stopper Angelo Peruzzi.

“Matteo will currently earn £1.7m net for the remaining two years of his contract and Lazio are offering £447,000 per season until 2010,” added his agent. “We cannot accept these figures for a player of his calibre.”
